Kindly Light Cottage is a traditional cottage which has been fully modernised to a very high standard. Accommodation is arranged over three floors. There are beautiful sea views from both the master bedroom and twin bedroom.
Ground Floor
On the ground floor is a delightful open-plan kitchen/living-space with beamed ceilings. You will find that the fully-equipped kitchen has all you need for a comfortable break, including fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, hob and oven, toaster and a wide range of crockery and cooking utensils for all your self-catering needs. There is a cafetiere and teapot for your morning hot drinks.
In the living space, there is plenty of comfortable seating for those cosy evenings in as well as a TV with free-sat box, DVD player and a wood-burning stove. There is also free Wifi and a selection of games and books.
In the corner of the room, there is a door leading to the stairs. Those guests visiting with young children or your dog will find this particularly useful as it enables the steep staircase to be closed off.
First Floor
On the first floor is the tastefully-decorated master bedroom. The large double bed is topped with a comfortable memory foam mattress and the spacious room is furnished with oak wardrobes, allowing plenty of space for your clothes and belongings. There is also a hairdryer.
If you need to bring a travel cot, there is ample space in the master bedroom.
Second Floor
At the top of the house, there is a twin bedroom, a single ‘snug’ bedroom and the bathroom. All the beds have comfortable memory foam mattresses. The modern bathroom has a bath and electric shower.
Garden
Kindly Light has a wonderful private outside space opposite the cottage which is perfect for making the most of those warmer evenings where you can relax as you listen to the sound of the sea just 50 yards away. A table and chairs is provided for you to enjoy the space. In the outhouse, there is a washing machine for your convenience.
There is also an outside tap and hose – useful after the dog’s trip to the beach!
Car Parking
Cars can be unloaded directly outside the cottage. As with the majority of houses in the old part of Staithes, once you are unloaded you will need to take your car to the car park at the top of the village and wander back down the High Street, or through the winding alleyways. A permit is provided in the cottage for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility
Access to the cottage from the street is via a passage-way which has a small number of shallow steps. There is a step into the cottage at the front door. All the bedrooms and the bathroom are on the first and second floors. The staircase curves at the top and bottom of the stairs. The walk to/from the car park is steep (please also see above on Car Parking). We purchased the property after spending many happy family holidays there over the years and it holds a special place in our hearts. Now, as owners, we want our guests to experience and enjoy their holiday in Kindly Light just as we have. There’s nothing quite like a stroll though the higgledy-piggledy streets and alleyways of Staithes, relaxing in one of the excellent pubs or cafes then heading back to the cottage for a glass of wine in the garden or a cosy evening in front of the log-burning fire. Or, returning to Kindly Light after a day adventuring along the stunning North Yorkshire coast, fossil hunting or admiring spectacular views from the cliff tops.
